Slide, negative scanning
Still remember the mood of the old slideshows? When grandpa put together the sheet, the slide-projector and the books needed for the height adjustment?
The good news is you can relive it and not only you, but all your relatives around the world.
Memorescue has the biggest capacity in Hungary for years now, in urgent cases we can scan 1000 slides a day.
Slide scanning requires paying attention, like a handicraftsman`s work; memories get the attention they deserve: We pay attention to every slide one-by-one. First they are cleaned with scpecial film cleaner fluid then the scanner`s glass is cleaned with scratch-free wipe. Then comes the scanning, and the digital post production: rotation, cropping and retouching of pictures. All this can only happen manually, it is the only way we can guarantee our quality. Altough our mashines support the digital infra-red removal of dust and srcathes, automatism ruins 20-25% of the treated pictures, small details are vanished. These are the reasons we don`t use them, the quality of pictures depends only on our workmate`s education and experience.
Resolution is the amount of pixels in an inch (2,54 cm) of a picture. 300dpi means: a picture of 2,54cm is divided into 300 pixels through the process of scanning. We can scan slides and negatives from 1200 to 6400dpi (real-optical, not interpolated) depending on the purpose of the scanning. If someone wants to print a B0 sized, 100cm picture, 4800dpi is recommended and if you would like to watch it on computer or TV, or send it to grandma in email, 1200dpi is often enough.
A little bit of help for choosing the right resolution (in case of a 24*36mm Leica slide):
Our experience shows, it is not worth to go above 2400dpi, only the pixels will get bigger. There are some specifically fine-grained (ISO 15-25) films where it is worth to scan on 4800-6400dpi - these takes only half percent of our work. They make awesome pictures.
The prices of scanning always contains:
After scanning we store the pictures for a week for quality assurance. The basic retouching means the correction of quickly repairable damages, it must be acknowledged that the making of a fully reconstructed picture of high resolution can take 2-3 hours. If the slides are well stored, then retouching means to clean out a few lints - it is included in the prices of scanning.
What to pay attention to when ordering scanning?
-It is advisable to name every slide box or negative roll, these will be the names of folders they will be scanned into. Without names, the folders will be numbers.
There is no minimal order, we are happy to deal with any kind of amount! |
